Our history

Ecosolve Ltd, now trading as Ecosol Turfcare, was set up by the King family 11 years ago. Managing director, Bretton King began our sales and contracting service with one Drill n Fill aerator and operated it himself all over the UK and in Ireland. Our first customer was Shirehampton Golf Club, near Bristol, which had compaction and poor grass cover on two greens. This job was swiftly followed by Ipswich Town Football Club. Soon after, the Drill n Fill performed the first of our many European commissions for Kungsangen GC in Stockholm, Sweden, at the request of the European PGA..

The revolutionary machine continued to work wonders on golf greens and other fine turf blighted by drainage problems, compaction, thatch and poor grass growth. One year later, St Andrews Links Trust requested a drill that could penetrate compaction and crushed sea shells to a depth of 18 inches. Ecosolve commissioned a special Deep Drill machine which goes to that depth but does not backfill. Further development with the ECB has seen the Deep Drill become an important tool in cricket. Our portfolio also expanded to take in bowls clubs.We are often recommended by agronomists both here and on the continent and by the ECB, RFU, STRI and IOG.

A comprehensive contracting service

In 2003 Ecosolve moved to a purpose-built base in Wiltshire from where we now run five Drill n Fill and two Deep Drill aerators with a team of operators in addition to the directors and office support staff. In 2004, we set up a sportsturf maintenance division which offers problem solving, in-season and end-of-season work to football and rugby clubs. Ecosol Turfcare now run a raft of machines, offering a multi-dimensional contracting service for complete pitch renovation, down to specific problem solving on all grass sports surfaces. In 2008 we established Bespoke Blending and Bagging, BBB, our own customised service for blends of dressings and soil amendments for use in Drill n Fill and Graden sand injection.

The past year saw Ecosolve at work, not just in the UK but in Switzerland, France, Holland, Germany, Scandinavia and Belgium, mostly on contract service, but also selling machines to larger customers abroad, including one to Dubai in 2008. We are recognised as a leading authority in maintaining a consistently high standard of sports turf surface, providing site analysis, facility assessment, new construction, project management, drainage schemes and renovation.
